Rod Kaup died Dec. 3, 2024, in his home. * A graveside service for Franklin Malena, 92, formerly of Atkinson, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Atkinson Woodlawn Cemetery. Franklin Malena died Monday, March 17, in the Arbor Care Center at O’Neill. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. Friday until the time of service in Seger Funeral Home of Atkinson. * Funeral service for Betty Lou Epke, 97, of Valentine, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, in the Valentine Methodist Church with burial in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Betty Lou Epke died Saturday, March 15, in the Sandhills Care Center at Ainsworth. Visitation is scheduled from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday in the Sandoz Chapel of the Pines at Valentine. * Funeral service for Frances “Fran” Obermire, 80, of Atkinson, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, in the Atkinson First Presbyterian Church with burial at a later date. Fran Obermire died Feb. 25 in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home at Albion. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of service in the First Presbyterian Church. Olson, 84, of Bassett, formerly of Ord, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, in the Bassett Methodist Church with a private family inurnment in the Ord Cemetery. * Funeral service for Avealona Roeder, 11, of Newport, Jan. 6, in the Rock County High School gym at Bassett with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery near Atkinson. Avealona Roeder died Jan. 1 in Children’s Hospital at Omaha.
